Halloween 2018: RIDE ON SHOOTING STAR
Everything came together quite well! Here's a peek at the full costume, and I will get an album up in the next few days.
I'm really happy with just about everything. I would saw the things that worked the best were:
- The coat. Surprisingly, it's awesome, fits really well, and I really like it! I'm still planing to make another version, but I'm happy enough with the current one to wait on that for a bit.
- The goggles. They are rad and I love them.
- The helmet. It really added a bit of flair to everything and is super comfy, even with the wig jammed underneath.
- The bass. Fun to play, fun (though also terrifying) to swing around!
- The cuff. Having the metal really added an extra bit of oomph to this costume.
- The scarf! I remade it so it was longer and not as thick, and it was perfect.
- The pants. They're Athleta leggings with a bit of shine, and aside from being a bit warm worked out amazingly.
- The shirt. It was simple, but perfect.
Now the things that didn't work as well and that I can improve on:
- The boots. They looked okay, but are about two sizes too small, and they were the largest I could find. I think I'm going to either need to make them, or get them custom made for my giant man feet. They're also missing some of the bits that Haruko has on her boots.
- The wig. The wig itself was great, but did not style well at all. I was able to cut it, but I wasn't able to flip the hair out like I wanted, so I need to do a bit more research and work on that next time.
- The gloves. I made them. They are derpy. They work, but have some problems and really need to be redone, and turns out making gloves is really hard. I still can't find a good pair to use instead, but I think I will keep looking or invest in a machine that can make gloves.
- The motor on the guitar. I had some sudden business travel come up, and I just couldn't get to it. So that's something to finish, for sure!
All in all, it was awesome to wear, pretty comfy, and a lot of fun. Everyone kept asking if I was Tank Girl.
